Howard Berman and Bruce McPherson strongly believe that nonprofit health care organizations will be needed more than ever by the American people, despite the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010 and its subsequent implementation. Millions of American residents remain uninsured or underinsured and those numbers could arguably become much worse in the short-to-near term as a result of a variety of international and domestic challenges that lie ahead.

As a result, the general public will look to nonprofit health plans and providers to do as much as they possibly can to serve as the safety-net for coverage and care, and in fact these organizations will be scrutinized more than ever to prove that they are doing so and thus earning whatever tax exemptions they enjoy.

At a minimum, Howard and Bruce want the resources of this web site to continue to be available to nonprofit health care organizations as they face these increasing demands.

Ideally, Howard and Bruce hope that nonprofit health care leaders will once again come together as an active “national alliance” to preserve and advance a robust and responsive nonprofit health care sector, with such organizations collaborating effectively together and with other stakeholders in their local communities to improve people’s health in an affordable manner.
